Ectopic adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) production is a rare cause of Cushings syndrome. It is usually seen with small cell lung cancer, bronchial carcinoid, or medullary thyroid cancer. Rarely, the source of ectopic ACTH production can be a phaeochromocytoma.
